Jag och min Alzheimer

Jag har fått en Alzheimers diagnos (Kod F002/F018). Här publicerar jag texter i ett försök att bygga en faktasamling om sjukdomen. Konkurrensen är tyvärr inte stor.

Why Your Life Story Is Important

Why Your Life Story Is Important

When a person is diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease, memory and the ability to recall important parts of life are affected. Therefore, it is very valuable to write a life story early in the disease progression. A life story helps to preserve memories, strengthen identity, and make it easier for both relatives and care personnel to provide more person-centered care. In fact, everyone should write a life story. You never know when it might come in handy.

What is a life story?

It is a simple description of a person's life. It can contain information about:

  • childhood and upbringing
  • family and relationships
  • education and work
  • hobbies and interests
  • important life events
  • values and traditions

The story can be written by the person themselves or together with relatives.
