Alzheimer's, Manus, and Lovable: AI – From a Tool to Cognitive Support
Article no. 43 · September 10, 2026 · Updated October 8, 2026 ·

I'm building this site using AI tools. As I've gone along, I've gained some experience with them, and I thought I would share what I've learned.
AI services that can answer questions, write text, and make summaries have been around for a while. What's new are services that can manage a larger part of a work process: discussing an idea, doing research, creating materials, and building a website or an app.
Two of the most prominent services are probably the Chinese company Manus and the Swedish Lovable. They started from different places but have gradually converged.
Manus – Broader Scope and Strong on Design
I started using Manus fairly soon after its launch in 2025. Back then, it was primarily seen as a tool for building websites and creating presentations. Since then, it has become much broader, now including research, programming, and visual work.
Above all, I think Manus is great at design. In that area, I still consider it better than Lovable.
My reservation has to do with its work process. Manus tends to start building quickly, sometimes before I've even finished thinking things through. On one occasion, it created three similar versions of my site when I really just wanted to continue with a single one. Since using it costs credits, these kinds of detours can also get expensive.
Lovable – Greater Control
Lovable was launched back in 2024 and was, from the beginning, more clearly focused on building websites and apps. It too has gradually expanded its range of uses.
What I appreciate most is the Plan mode. There, I can discuss structure and changes before the AI starts modifying the code. This suits my way of working: first, talk through what needs to be done, then build.
