Me and My Alzheimer's is back!

I am an involuntary victim of a struggle between the Chinese government and big capital. Meta bought the platform for an almost unimaginable 2 billion dollars (!).

The Chinese government vetoed the deal and it had to be cancelled. In connection with this, many users' accounts were shut down. They did offer a technique to try to restore them.

But I had had enough. I have left the platform and moved on to the Swedish company Lovable, where I have now rebuilt the site almost from scratch. Luckily I had prepared myself by connecting to GitHub, which made it possible to save some of the old material.

What happened to my site also says something about a much larger issue. Meta's algorithms and rules shape parts of the public conversation, while the Chinese state has far-reaching control over the internet, data and technology, including abroad.

Swedish media do report on this. But the long-term concentration of power in technology companies and state control over information sometimes gets less space than in, for example, The Guardian, the Financial Times and Der Spiegel. Foreign media are not always better, but they can contribute other perspectives and a broader discussion.

As far as I am concerned, the adventure with the Chinese platform is over. It is interesting that it was Swedish technology that saved the site.
